An unlucky tourist in central London was bitten by a disgruntled horse outside Horse Guards Parade. A King’s Guard horse attacked an unsuspecting member of the public as they posed for a snap with a Blues and Royals soldier. The man and woman are stood to the side of the horse guard, smiling towards an out-of-shot photographer in shocking footage of the incident. The horse suddenly turns towards the unwitting tourists and clamps down on the man’s arm, causing him to shout out in pain. The man struggled to pull his arm free but eventually managed to yank his sleeve from the horse’s mouth and made his escape.
Ironically the encounter occurred directly in front of a well-positioned sign which read: “Beware horses may kick or bite!” The incident, which happened on Christmas Day, triggered a roar of laughter from the surrounding onlookers. Even the typically stern expression of the soldier faltered as he gave a cheeky grin before turning his head away to compose himself. It is far from the first time an oblivious tourist has faced the wrath of the mounted royal guard.
In September, a little girl was left terrified after an encounter with a member of the King’s Guard. The soldier was passing through a courtyard carrying two swords as he approached the child and yelled: “Stand clear!” The little girl promptly obliged and, clearly terrified, sprinted out of the guard’s path and towards her family. A clip of the incident quickly went viral on TikTok and has since amassed over 17 million views, with users in the comment section divided over the guard’s conduct.
